Azerbaijani President approves laws on religious activity

APA reports that the Azerbaijani Parliament adopted the draft laws on making amendments to the Administrative Offences Code and Criminal Code on November 15, 2011. The amendments are about the religious activity.

The amendment to the article No.300 of the Administrative Offences Code determined the activities contrary to the legislation on religious belief. According to the amendment, sending the students for getting religious education abroad without coordinating it with the relevant executive bodies, exchange of religious figures, holding of Islamic ceremonies by the religious figures studied abroad, conduction of religious propaganda by foreigners and stateless persons will be considered as the infringement of religious legislation.

If the religious propaganda by foreigners and stateless persons is conducted by spreading illegal religious literature, things and other informative religious materials, it will cause the criminal responsibility on the basis of the Criminal Codeâ€™s corresponding order.
