Materials concerning the history of first catholic church functioned in Azerbaijan’s capital in the early 20th century were demonstrated at the Baku catholic church, head of Baku catholic church Vladimir Fekete told APA. The exhibition was demonstrated in accordance with the Summit of Religious Leaders held in Baku. President of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran and Nuncio of Vatican Claudio Gucerotti got acquainted with the exhibition: “As a result of our joint cooperation with Azerbaijan State Historical Archive, we revealed very interesting photos and documents about catholic community living in Azerbaijan during the reign of Tsar. We have exhibited 30 of them. We revealed 15 historical photos, layouts and schemes on first catholic churchâ€.
Note that, the number of catholic churches in Azerbaijan in the early 20th century tolled to 10 000.
