Baku hosts CIS Inter-Religions Council - <font color=red> PHOTOSESSION</font>

Such event contribute to solidarity and strengthening the cultural relations between CIS countries, said Co-Chair of the CIS Inter-Religions Council, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-al-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh in his welcoming speech, APA reports.

Pashazadeh spoke about the annual activity of the CIS Inter-Religions Council and emphasized the important work done by the Council. He mentioned the Nagorno karabakh conflict and said it was not only between the two peoples, but it is a problem between the ethnics and religions as well.

He said the Russian Orthodox Church offered its mediatory initiative between the Caucasian Muslims Office and Armenian Church and he was hopeful that the religious leaders would contribute to the solution of this problem.

The Council also reviewed the organizing issues. According to the Charter of the CIS Inter-Religions Council, Sheikh-al-Islam Pashazadeh introduced the new co-chair of the Council, All Russian and Moscow Patriarch Cyril to the participants.

Patriarch Cyril said the CIS Inter-Religions Council was continuing a dialogue for changing the world in a good sense and for prevention of religious intolerance and conflicts. “The Council was established for the development of this dialogue. This meeting has a symbolic character in the current critical situation. The people will see that the religious leaders come together and launch a dialogue”.

17 religious figures from the CIS countries participated at the meeting.

The Summit of World Religious Leaders will be held in Baku on April 26.
