"The illegal exploitation of our natural resources, including our mineral deposits, with the involvement of foreign entities during the nearly 30-year occupation of our lands caused severe damage to the region's environment. Large amounts of proceeds obtained from these crimes were laundered through international financial channels," President Ilham Aliyev said in his address to the participants of the third high-level meeting of the heads of anti-corruption agencies of OIC member states held in Baku, APA reports.
It was stated that digital development, particularly the rapid spread of artificial intelligence, not only expands opportunities to combat corruption but also creates conditions for the emergence of new forms of corruption and the misuse of digital financial instruments.
"The effective use of the potential of modern technological solutions by relevant law enforcement agencies is of particular importance in preventing and effectively investigating such crimes," the address stated.
