The period of active military service in peacetime for officers called up from the reserve for active military service or voluntarily joining active military service under a contract will be reduced by 6 months, APA reports.
This is reflected in the proposed amendments to the “Regulations on Military Service” and the “Law on Military Duty and Military Service,” which were submitted for discussion at today’s session of the Milli Majlis.
According to the current law, in peacetime, the period of active military service is 1 year and 6 months for those called up from the reserve or voluntarily joining active military service, and up to 3 years for officers voluntarily joining active military service under a contract.
According to the draft, for those called up from the reserve for a fixed-term active military service or voluntarily joining active military service under a contract, this period will be 1 year (after this period, with the agreement of the parties, they are transferred to the cadre officer staff), and for foreigners and stateless persons voluntarily joining active military service under a contract, this period will be up to 3 years (after this period, a new contract is concluded with the agreement of the parties).
The draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the first reading.
