Maharramli said NTRC has equal attitude toward all TV channels operating within the country, noting that ANS acts on the principle “I’m smarter than everyone else”.
“Simply, only ANS acts on this principle in every situation. However, it is a negligent act. NTRC will resolutely continue carrying out its functions,” he noted.
The NTRC chairman said he doesn’t agree that AZN 161,000 fine imposed on ANS is high enough. “On the contrary, the fines are very low, but irregularities more than enough. As the irregularities are more, the amount of fines seems high,” he stressed.
As for the other TV channels, Maharramli said: “If any TV channel agrees with the claims made against it and tries to eliminate the irregularities, NTRC always takes relevant steps. However, if some TV channels commit undesired acts, NTRC will firmly react to it.”
