Baku. Farid Mirzayev – APA. Ms Dragana Filipovic, head of Office of the Council of Europe in Baku met with Mr Aflatun Amashov, head of Azerbaijan Press Council, member of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan.
Dragana Filipovic emphasized the importance of addressing the issue of reforms in legislation, especially regarding the defamation and raising awareness in community on it, the Press Council told APA on Friday.
Amashov, in his turn, stressed the principal importance of the issue of defamation in promotion of the freedom of expression in any society, adding that the Press Council prepared draft law on defamation and organized discussions on this issue.
The Office of the Council of Europe in Baku and Azerbaijani Press Council decided to cooperate on this issue as well as on different aspects of media freedom in Azerbaijan.
