The Committee’s chairperson, Rafael Huseynov, has presented the draft law.
According to the item annexed to Article 11 (Special cases blocking the dissemination of information, opening the source of information) that copies of proceeding materials on criminal prosecution drawn up as specified in the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Azerbaijan which are believed to be documented information in accordance with the law “On access to information”.
Item 4 of the article is amended as follows: “The editorial office of mass media or journalist is not allowed to disseminate any information about minor suspects, accused of undertaking of a crime or aggrieved persons without their consent or consent of their legal representatives.”
The item is currently as follows: “The editorial office of mass media or journalist is not allowed to disseminate any information about the person of the minors accused of undertaking of a crime, without theirs consent or consent of their valid representatives.”
Huseynov said such annexes and amendments area aimed at preventing early distribution of exaggerated information that leads to undesirable results. "It doesn’t mean limiting the work of media in all cases,” he added.
The draft law will be tabled in the upcoming plenary session of the parliament.
