ANS TV channel fined AZN 54,000

Baku. Farid Mirzayev – APA. The National Television and Radio Council on Monday held its next meeting.

At the meeting, administrative proceedings and offences on the violation of the law “On television and radio broadcasting” of the Republic of Azerbaijan were considered.

In accordance with Article 13.2 of the law on advertising dated 15 May 2015 and Article 187-1.0.5 of the Administrative Code, ANS Independent Broadcasting and Media Company is fined AZN 6,000 for each violation on the following TV programs aired on ANS TV channel for violating the requirements of the law on sponsorship; “SÉ™n tÉ™k deyilsÉ™n” (4:20pm-7:00pm, 1 Oct.2015 and 2 Oct.2015), “XoÅŸqÉ™dÉ™mlÉ™ axtarÄ±ram sÉ™ni” (9:30pm-12:00pm, 4 Oct.2015), “Salam AzÉ™rbaycan” (1 Oct.2015, 2 Oct.2015, 3 Oct.2015, 5 Oct.2015), “Åžokolad” (18 Sept.2015 and 21 Sept.2015).

On the whole, ANS is fined AZN 54,000.

At the same time, given the fact that the program “Salam, AzÉ™rbaycan” aired on ANS TV channel disrespects rights and freedoms set forth by the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, humiliates people's honor and dignity, spoils business reputation, and violates provisions of the legislation on sponsorship, a decision was passed to suspend the program, which is aired on ANS TV channel at 07:00am-10:00am on Monday-Friday, and at 08:00am-10:00am on Saturday, for ten (10) days from 6 Oct. 2015.

Moreover, a decision was adopted on ANS Independent Broadcasting and Media Company’s ensuring broadcasting of programs of educational, cultural and intellectual character at airtime of the program “Salam, AzÉ™rbaycan” , and disseminating information on content of the responsibility measure applied.
