Azerbaijan finalizing preparations for II Media Forum of Turkic-Speaking Countries and Peoples

Baku – APA. “Preparations are underway for the II Media Forum of the Turkic-Speaking Countries and Peoples. The forum will be attended by the media representatives from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russian republics of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Karachai-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Tuva, Sakha populated by Turkic-speaking peoples, Autonomous Republic of Crimea of Ukraine, Gagauz Autonomous Region of Moldova, European countries densely-populated by Turks. The majority of the representatives have already confirmed their participation in the forum, necessary procedure has been realized. We hope we will be able to perfectly organize this forum, which is of great importance for the Turkic world,” chairman of Azerbaijani Press Council Aflatun Amashov said, APA reports.

Aflatun Amashov said the II Media Forum of the Turkic-Speaking Countries and Peoples will be jointly organized by the Press Council and the Fund of State Support for the Development of Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan Republic. The main theme of the forum will be “The Turkic-language media factor in the globalizing world: differences and common interests”. About 60 foreign guests will attend the forum. The total number of the participants will be more than 200.

Aflatun Amashov said for the first time so many media representatives from the Turkic world will come together in Azerbaijan.
“The forum will be held in Kempinski Hotel Badamdar on October 28. We are finalizing work on the agenda. We think that first of all the characteristic feature of media in the Turkic world should be spoken about at the forum. Every participant should inform about the current state of work in this direction and give information about the working principles of Turkic-speaking media organizations and their role in the local societies. We consider it important to attach attention to the factor of Turkic-speaking media in the process of integration into the global information network. We consider that we need in strengthening of cooperation in this direction and determination of prospective steps. The role of social journalism in the world has been increased recently. We will work towards the discussions on contribution of the new journalism to the consolidation of Turkic-speaking media organizations. An exchange of ideas about the future activity of the Media Platform of the Turkic-speaking countries and communities established in Turkey will take place in the event”.

Amashov also focused attention on the role of the event in familiarization with the history, culture and art of Azerbaijan. The working plan on the forum will cover the period from October 27 to 30. The guests will be welcomed on October 26 and they will view concert program at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall on October 27. “The guest will visit observable places of our city. They will attend the forum on October 28 and next day the guests are expected to visit Guba region of Azerbaijan. They will visit the mass grave of victims of the genocide committed against the Azerbaijani people by Armenians. On October 29, the guests will be hosted by the Public Television of Azerbaijan”.
