Azerbaijani media representatives to participate in world congress of journalists

IPI Azerbaijan National Committee’s Information department told APA that Chairperson of the IPI Azerbaijan National Committee Umud Rahimoglu, Chairperson of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov, APA Director General Vusale Mahirgizi and Department Head of the International Eurasia Press Fund Nick Nwolisa will participate in the event which will be held in Taiwan on September 24-27. According to Rahimoglu, Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou will open IPI’s this year’s world congress: “Traditionally, the International Press Institutes World Congress and General Assembly is held at the high level. This event’s opening and closing are held by the world’s famous people, presidents, prime ministers. This year’s event will be opened by Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou”.

IPI’s “Free Media Pioneer Award” will be presented to the winner of 2011- Tunisia’s well-known ‘Kalima” radio.

Rahimoglu said that the three-day conference will focus on the theme, “The Asian Media Century? 21st Century Developments from New Technologies to Press Freedom”. According to him, the representatives of the most countries of the world, including the US, the United Kingdom, Germany, Romania, China, India, Pakistan, Japan, South Korea, the United Arabian Emirates, South Africa and the other countries will attend the prestigious media event.

“BBC Director General Marc Thompson, Hournalist of “The Washington Post” newspaper John Pomfret, CNN correspondent Jim Clancy, Chairman of Chinese “Thomson Reuters” agency David Schlesinger, The Associated Press vice president John Daniszewski, The Guardian’s special correspondent Amelia Hill will deliver a speech at the event.
