Separate television and radio channel for Azerbaijanâ€™s capital can be opened

The National Television and Radio Council has held consultations with the relevant agencies concerning the changing of the state due required for the broadcasting, chairman of the Council Nushiravan Maharramli told APA. Maharramli said the amount of the license for televisions in the country is AZN 11000.
â€œAZN 3000 is offered for regional television, AZN 5000 for radio in the country, AZN 3000 for the cable network with 5000 subscribers, AZN 6000 for cable televisions with more than 5000 subscribers, AZN 1000 for satellite broadcasting,â€ he said.

According to the chairman of the Council, for the first time amount of license has also been determined for television and radio in Baku.
â€œAZN 5500 is planned for television, AZN 2500 for radio in Baku. The changing of the amount of the license is connected with the maintenance of the principle of justice. Earlier, all TV channels paid AZN 11000. Actually, we support the reduction of the amount of license. The economic conditions of various companies are different in Azerbaijan. Therefore, I think the less the amount of the licenses is, the better it is,â€ he said.

Maharramli said a separate television and radio channel for the capital can be opened.
â€œEverything is possible. There are a lot of television channels in the capitals in foreign countries. But this is the matter of future,â€ he said.
