The UN Cooperation Framework Document for 2026–2030 defines two main priority areas, Deputy Minister of Economy Anar Akhundov said at the meeting of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Joint Steering Committee held in Baku today, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that these priorities include inclusive socio-economic development and strengthening of human capital, as well as ecosystem protection, climate resilience, and the promotion of green growth.
“These priorities aim to expand access to quality services for all citizens, ensure decent employment, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, enable efficient use of resources, and protect the environment. The Cooperation Framework Document for 2026–2030 sets a number of specific statistical targets for strategic priorities. Under the first strategic priority— inclusive socio-economic growth and strengthening of human capital— targets have been set such as increasing the index of government expenditure on agriculture, reducing premature mortality from non-communicable diseases, increasing women’s participation in managerial positions and social protection coverage, as well as raising the share of wages in GDP,” Akhundov said.
He added that under the second strategic priority— ecosystem protection, climate resilience, and promotion of green growth— it is planned to improve integrated water resource management, increase the share of renewable energy in total energy consumption, raise recycling rates, and expand forest coverage.
“These indicators reflect the concrete results Azerbaijan plans to achieve in sustainable development, green economy, and inclusive socio-economic development. The total financial volume of the new Cooperation Framework Document amounts to 85.3 million US dollars. Of this, 51 million dollars are currently available for project financing, while 34 million dollars are expected to be mobilized over the next five years. In this regard, joint efforts of UN agencies and state institutions are essential to achieving the desired results,” he emphasized.
