Attorney Adam Mammadov said in his statement to APA the court passed a verdict on altering S. Sultanov’s pre-trial detention to house arrest. Following the court decision, he was released.
Note that, according to the Republican Military Prosecutor's Office, a number of irregularities had been found out during an inspection at the ANF, and the Republican Military Prosecutor's Office launched a criminal case on the matter. Several persons accused of committing illegal acts, including former Commander of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces, Vice Admiral Shahin Sultanov, were put in 3-month pre-trial detention under the verdict of the Baku Military Court on April 23 based on the presentation of the Republican Military Prosecutor's Office. Sultanov faced charges under the Criminal Code’s articles #179.3.2 (misappropriation – in large size) and 313 (official forgery). The investigation into the crimes is continuing.
