Prosecutor demands 9-year imprisonment for Parviz Hashimli - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

Parviz Hashimli’s lawyer Bahruz Bayramov told APA that the public prosecutor demanded 9-year imprisonment for Parviz Hashimli and Tavakkul Gurbanov.

The lawyer noted that as Tavakkul Gurbanov insulted Parviz Hashimli’s family members at the last hearing, the incident occurred between Tavakkul Gurbanov and Parviz Hashimli’s father and brother at today’s hearing. Thus, a break was announced at the hearing.

Bayramov said that following the speech of the public prosecutor, Hashimli’s lawyers asked the court for his acquittal. They noted that the charges against him are groundless.

Gurbanov’s lawyer asked the court for more time to defend his defendant.

The hearing will be continued on May 14.

Baku. Fuad Jafarov – APA. Baku Court of Grave Crimes has started hearing on the case of imprisoned Parviz Hashimli, the correspondent of the Bizim yol newspaper and Tavakkul Gurbanov.

Parviz Hashimli’s lawyer Bahruz Bayramov told APA that the public prosecutor demanded 9-year imprisonment for Parviz Hashimli. The hearing is going on.

Parviz Hashimli was arrested by employees of the Ministry of National Security on September 17. He faces charges over Criminal Code’s articles #206.3.2 (smuggling) and 228.2.1 (illegal acquisition and storage of firearms). Sabail District Court sentenced him to pre-trial detention.
