Terter resident, 33-year-old Ilgar Chingiz Aliyev was killed as Bashar al-Assad’s forces launched air strikes against jihadists in the Syrian city of Raqqa, law-enforcement bodies told APA.
He reportedly left for Syria a month ago and joined the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) jihadist group.
Azerbaijani fighters shared information about Aliyev’s death on social networks ten days ago. They also posted the photo of his corpse.
As the situation became tense a large number of Azerbaijani citizens started to go Syria and fight against the government forces within various radical groups. Nearly 100 Azerbaijanis were killed in the battles during this period. Photos of most of them were posted on social networks by the Mujahideen.
