Spokesperson for the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Irada Ibrahimova told APA that the fire broke out in the highlands of Turyanchay State Nature Reserve of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources at about 17:00 on July 7.
She said that there is no forest in the area and dry grass and shrubs burnt as a result of the fire. In order to prevent the fire, the employees of the Ministry’s local bodies, Aghdas Fire Protection Unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were deployed on the site. The fire was localized in the short-run and fully extinguished at 20:00.
According to preliminary information, the fire was caused by lightning. Dry grass and shrubs covering 2ha area of the reserve were damaged by the fire.
The fire is being investigated.
