Nurushov said that Armenian businessman, retired Gen. Anton Lugasyan and his relative Narok Hovhannisyan who are both believed to have ordered the murder of his brother have gone unpunished.
He said Azerbaijanis living in Kherson are unsatisfied with the court decision, claiming that the court passed this decision under the pressure of strong Armenian lobby in Ukraine.
“Brinsky sent a message to us from the jail that he claimed responsibility for the murder after facing pressure. The fact that Armenians suspected of the murder have gone unpunished poses a serious threat to us,” he added.
Vugar Nurushov (1976), a businessman originally from Azerbaijan’s Beylagan district, was killed in Ukraine in August 2015.
Deputy chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine’s Kherson province, businessman Ilham Taghiyev was beaten to death outside his house on August 17. Karapetyan Sergei Razmikovich and Ukrainian citizen Montiyan Khachik Stepanovich of Armenian origin, as well as Azerbaijani Naim Allahverdiyev were detained on murder suspicions. However, his relatives claim that Taghiyev’s murder was ordered by Lugasyan.
