Three Azerbaijanis left for Turkey to work in “Gebze Denizçilik” company. According to Zaur Aliyev, his brother Farid Aliyev and two Azerbaijanis together with a Turkish citizen hit the road to bring to Libya a ship owned by the company.

Zaur Aliyev said for the last time they were able to contact his brother on February 21. “My brother said they had serious problems on the Greek coast, but now everything is all right and they will reach Libya after three days,” Aliyev added.

“They are sailors, who may not be heard from or reached with a phone call for some time. But what cast doubt a doubt into our hearts was that captain Namig Salamov had to return to Azerbaijan on 27 February. We contacted the company’s administration. The company’s director, Ercan Deliyurek, said he was abroad, saying that he was in touch with Namig ad everything was alright. He said the engine was out of order and that he would soon be reached. But we were told these on the phone, there is no evidence. If they sent a voice recording, we would then believe,” Zaur Aliyev said.

Families of Farid Aliyev and ship captain Namig Salamov on Wednesday came to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, asking for assist in search for their missing family members.

Note that, the families of the sailors have been unable to reach them since February 21. Azerbaijan’s embassy in Turkey is dealing with the problem. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hikmat Hajiyev said that the ministry has began investigating the fates of three Azerbaijani citizens who went to Turkey to make money. Their families claim that the seamen are lost.
