Baku. Shahriyar Alizade – APA. The Baku Court of Appeal on Thursday resumed the hearing on journalist Rauf Mirgadirov’s appeal.
The hearing took place behind closed doors.
Attorney Fuad Aghayev said that the hearing was rescheduled for March 16.
According to him, the judge said that the hearing was postponed because no cassation appeal had been submitted against the verdict from the preliminary meeting while one month had been given for it and this period of time has not expired yet.
The attorney said he does not believe this is the right decision.
“We will raise the issue of the responsibility of judges on this matter,” he said.
Aghayev added Mirgadirov has health problems including deteriorating eyesight.
Mirgadirov is charged with treason (Article 274). The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has sentenced him to six years in jail — the decision against which the appeal was filed.
