Hearing on appeal filed against judgment on NIDA members scheduled

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. Baku Court of Appeal held a preliminary hearing on the appeal filed against the judgment on imprisoned members of NIDA Civic Movement.

APA reports that the rights of defendants were explained at the hearing presided over by judge Hasan Ahmadov. The lawyers filed petitions to commute the pre-trial detention of their defendants and conduct the process partially under investigation. Judge Hasan Ahmadov said that Bakhtiyar Guliyev refused the appeal and asked the court for further consideration of his appeal in the future.

Guliyev filed another petition to the court that he did not want to participate at the hearing.

Lawyers and the defendants asked the court to ensure participation of Guliyev at the hearing.

Then the hearing was adjourned. Following this the judgment was announced. The court sustained Guliyev’s request and rejected the appeal of the lawyers.

The hearing was scheduled for July 11.

Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced Zaur Gurbanli, Ilkin Rustamzadeh and Rashadat Akhundov to 8-year imprisonment, Rashad Hasanov to 7 years 6 months, Bakhtiyar Guliyev to 7 years, Mammad Azizov to 7 years 6 months, Uzeyir Mammadli to 7 years and Shahin Novruzlu to 6 years in prison.
