Fire broke out in Lerik moves to Hirkan National Park

Lankaran. Agaddin Babayev - APA. The fire which broke out in the highlands of Piran village of Lerik region has moved to Hirkan National Park.

APA’s southern bureau reports that the fire was recorded at about 16:20 in the area of the park in Lankaran region.

Personnel of the State Firefighting Service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved to the scene.

As the fire broke out in the highlands, the fire-extinguishers were unable to be driven up to the scene.

The fire covered a large area.

Head of press service of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Irada Ibrahimova told APA that the fire, broke out in the area of municipality and then moved to the highlands, has today moved to larger area. Ibrahimova said that the fire moved to Hirkan National Park and covered 0.2 ha area. Employees of all agencies of the Ministry and local bodies have been involved in the extinguishing the fire.

All necessary equipments of the Operational Center of the Ministry on emergency situations have been taken and 20 employees of the Ministry left for Lerik.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has also issued a statement. According to statement, a fire broke out in the part of Hirkan National Park in the mountainous are (8 km away from the region center). A helicopter and 2 fire-extinguishers have been involved from the Ministry’s Aviation Unit in extinguishing the fire.

The fire in the forest area in Lerik region continues.

As the fire-extinguishers were unable to be driven up to the scene, tractors and other heavy equipment as well as employees of local organizations and residents were involved for extinguishing the fire.
