The court will consider these cases separately. They face charges under article #228 (illegal possession of firearms) of the Criminal Code. A hearing on their criminal cases will be held in the coming days.
On 26 November 2015, law-enforcement authorities conducted a special operation in Nardaran. During the operation, the police were fired from automatic weapons and met armed resistance, and hand grenades were thrown on them. As a result, four attackers were killed and several others were injured. Two police officers died during the operation.
70 people were detained over the case. Preliminary investigation into the criminal cases of more than 50 people is underway. They are accused under 18 articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
