Baku. Shahriyar Alizade – APA. Baku Court of Appeal considered the appeal of Major General Akif Chovdarov, the former head of the main energy and transport security department under the recently liquidated Ministry of National Security (MNS) of Azerbaijan.
Court rejected the appeal at the hearing held on March 7, APA reports.
On March 4, Baku’s Sabail district court decided to prolong for four months the prison term of Major General Akif Chovdarov. He filed appeal against this judgment and asked the cancellation of this decision.
Sabail District Court sentenced Akif Chovdarov to 4-month pre-trial detention on November 15, 2015.
He faces charges under articles #308.2 (abuse of power), 309.1 (excess of official power) and 311 (bribery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
