Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. The Azerbaijani businessman, who is accused of defrauding an Iranian citizen, has commented on media reports.
Azerbaijani businessman Hamlet Pashayev, who lives in Italy, told APA that the reports about him are untrue: “Iranian citizen Mahbubi Hamed Manouchehr who made a complaint to police about me had previously been my driver. I have never demanded money from him. I have always helped him instead. A month ago, I went to Sabail District Prosecutor’s Office and gave testimony. I told them that I had never demanded money from him. He has been my employee and I have always given him financial support. I was just obliged to get back to Italy as our business in Baku failed. And while returning, I told him that I would provide him with a job as soon as we restore our business. Nothing else has happened between me and him. I am not sure who came up about a fraud”.
Pashayev also said that he would return to Azerbaijan soon and investigate this issue.
On June 4, APA had released information in reference to Sabail District Police Office regarding a fact of swindle against an Iranian citizen. According to that information, citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahbubi Hamed Manouchehr, born in 1985, appealed to police that he had given Goranboy resident Hamlet Berkhurdar oglu Pashayev AZN 5,000 on Mardanov gardashlari street 5, Sabail district in order to obtain Azerbaijani citizenship in September 2013, but the latter didn’t return the money, committing an act of swindle.
Investigation is underway.
