Azerbaijan MNS detains smugglers, seizes 137 kg of heroin and 48 kg of silverware

The MNS Public Relations Center told APA that the Azerbaijani citizens Gurbanov Ilhamiz Mahammad and Aghayev Vidadi Khanlar engaged in drug smuggling were detained.

It was found out that Ilhamiz Gurbanov, Vidadi Aghayev and others conspired with a person called Ahmad being in the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose identity is currently investigated, and smuggled 1 kg of heroin from Iran to Azerbaijan.

As a result of another operation carried out by the ministry, Azerbaijani citizen Huseynzade Ahmad Amiraslan who was engaged in smuggling of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan was detained and about 1 kg of heroin was seized from him.

Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of National Security launched criminal cases under articles #206.4 (smuggling of narcotics group of persons by prior collusion), #234.4.1 and #234.4.3 (manufacture, acquisition, storage, shipment, or sale for the illicit manufacture and processing of drugs by prior collusion) of the Criminal Code and the accused Ilhamiz Gurbanov, Vidadi Aghayev and Ahmad Huseynzada were sentenced to pretrial detention. The investigation is underway.

As a result of a joint operation conducted by the Ministry of National Security and Russia's Federal Security Service, citizen of Kyrgyzstan Djushanlo L.T., citizen of Tajikistan Kalonov A.A. and citizen of the Russian Federation Abdullayev S.A., who had long engaged in drug smuggling from the Islamic Republic of Iran and Tajikistan to Russia, were detained in Moscow. During the inspection, 135 kg heroin was found and seized. The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has launched a criminal case on the fact.

During another operation conducted by MNS, a group of persons who had smuggled 48 kg silverware of large worth to Azerbaijan were caught red-handed.

Azerbaijani citizens Selimli Azad Babahasan, Hajiyev Eflatun Alimbash and Humbataliyev Gadir Shahin, as a group of persons on preliminary arrangement, have arranged sale of a great amount of silverware in Turkey’s Istanbul and then smuggling it to Azerbaijan. The MNS Central Investigation Department has launched a criminal case on article 206.3.2 (on preliminary arrangement by group of persons) of the Criminal Code. Azad Selimli, Eflatun Hajiyev and Gadir Humbataliyev have been arrested under court decision.

The investigation is underway.
