Arif Yunus sentenced to pre-trial detention - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

Lawyer Khalid Baghirov told APA that Nasimi District Court considered the application of the Procurator's office on arrest of Arif Yunus.

The court sentenced Arif Yunus to three-month pre-trial detention.

Arif Yunus is faced charges on the Criminal Code’s articles #274 (state betray), #178.3.2 (swindle) and Leyla Yunus on articles #274, #178.3.2, #192.2.2 (Illegal business), #213.2.2 (Evasion from payment of taxes), 320.1 (Fake of official documents) and #320.2.

On July 30, Leyla Yunus was sentenced to pre-trial detention accused by the above-mentioned articles and due to his health condition Arif Yunus was put under police surveillance.

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Arif Yunus, employee of the Institute for Peace and Democracy, has been taken to the court for a decision of pre-trial detention to be made about him.

Arif Yunus was detained today by police while carrying food for his spouse Leyla Yunus who is currently in the Baku Detention Facility, lawyer Khalid Baghirov told APA.

The prosecutor’s office has given a recommendation to make a decision of pre-trial detention against him for violating the restriction order about not leaving the territory of the Yasamal district where he lives. The recommendation will be reviewed at the Nasimi District Court.

Note that, a criminal had been filed against Arif Yunus under the Criminal Code’s articles #274 and 178.3.2. Due to his health condition, he was put under police surveillance.
