As a result of an operation carried out by officers of the Saatli District Police Department, two individuals suspected of organizing the illegal trafficking of narcotics — 34-year-old Alkhan Agharahimov and 35-year-old Elvin Mehdiyev — were detained, the Interior Ministry’s Press Service told APA.
It was reported that nearly 6 kilograms of narcotic substances, including hashish and marijuana, were seized from them.
It was stated that Alkhan Agharahimov and Elvin Mehdiyev stated they had been recruited as drug couriers by an Iranian citizen whose identity is currently under investigation, whom they had met via social media.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident, and a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen against them.
In addition, as a result of preventive measures carried out by police officers aimed at the voluntary surrender of illegally possessed weapons, a district resident voluntarily handed over an illegally held automatic firearm to the police.
