Individuals attempting to smuggle narcotic substances into the country have been detained, the Press Center of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan told APA.
Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and combat smuggling, narcotic substances, psychotropic drugs, and their precursors continue successfully.
In the service area of the State Border Service’s “Lankaran” border unit, two unknown individuals moving by car towards the border line were observed by the border patrol.
The border outpost immediately raised the “Weapon” command, and the service area was closed.
As a result of the border search and operational measures carried out, residents of the Khachmaz district moving in the direction of the vehicle with the license plate "90-BJ-616" — Elshad Movsumov, born in 1987, and Murad Rahimov, born in 1997 — were detained as suspects.
During initial questioning, the detainees confessed that they came to the area with the intention of transporting a total of 8 kilograms and 800 grams of narcotic substances.
Operational and investigative actions regarding the case are ongoing.
