During September 2025, the State Border Service successfully carried out measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, combat smuggling, illegal migration, and the illegal circulation of narcotic substances, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
26 individuals were detained for violating the state border during the month. Among them, 4 were Azerbaijani, 8 Iranian, 3 Algerian, 3 Afghan, 2 Pakistani, 2 Iraqi, 2 Tajik, 1 Russian, and 1 Moroccan citizen.
As a result of measures against illegal migration, 4 individuals were detained attempting to cross the state border with forged date stamps and passports, as well as documents belonging to others.
578 people were detained for violating border regime rules, and relevant measures were taken against them.
As a result of crime-fighting measures, law enforcement agencies detained 334 individuals who were wanted and handed them over to the relevant authorities. The exit of 645 people, whose departure from the country was prohibited, was prevented, and 59 individuals who were banned from entering the country were stopped from entering.
In the fight against the illegal circulation of narcotic substances, 685 kilograms and 575 grams of narcotics, as well as 5,960 pills classified as potent narcotic substances, were detected and confiscated.
As a result of anti-smuggling measures, contraband worth a total of 8,629,755 Azerbaijani manats, including pharmaceuticals, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products, was discovered and seized.
Border protection, operational search, and investigative activities continue to ensure the security of the state borders.
