As a result of the complex operational-search and customs control measures carried out by the employees of the Astara Customs Department, a large amount of narcotic drug - marijuana was once again detected and removed from illegal circulation, the State Customs Committee told APA-Economics.
According to the information, a vehicle transporting "lettuce" from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation by transiting through the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was subjected to customs inspection at the "South Astara" customs post.
During the inspection, which was carried out using an X-ray device and a canine service dog, 73 packages of narcotic drug - marijuana, with a total approximate weight of 29 kilograms, 100 grams, were found in boxes on two pallets, covered with lettuce cargo and hidden from customs control.
