The treatment of a male born in 1988 is continuing in the Intensive Care Unit of Barda District Central Hospital, the Hospital said in response to an inquiry from APA.
“It has been determined that the patient has sustained blast trauma and a traumatic amputation of the lower one-third of the right leg. His condition is assessed as stable,” the statement said.

An employee of a non-governmental organisation has been seriously injured in a landmine explosion in Azerbaijan’s Aghdara district, with his leg later amputated, APA reports.
The incident took place on 11 January 2026 in the village of Giziloba, located in territory recently liberated from occupation, according to the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA).
ANAMA said the man was involved in humanitarian demining operations when he stepped on an anti-personnel mine while carrying out his duties. The injured worker, identified as Elvin Hamiddin oglu Karimov, born in 1988, lost his right leg at the ankle as a result of the blast.
He was evacuated to the district central hospital, where doctors described his condition as stable.
Large areas of Azerbaijan remain contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance following decades of conflict, posing an ongoing threat to civilians and demining personnel.
