On September 27, as a result of the interaction of the Coast Guard's coastal control units and technical observation points, an unknown target was detected in the Caspian Sea, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
It was noted that in order to detain the detected target, a pursuit operation was launched by border vessels guarding the state border, and the coastal control units took urgent measures to close the coastline.
As a result of the operational-military measures carried out in the territorial waters and coastal areas of the Republic of Azerbaijan, warning shots were fired in accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the State Border" in order to detain the vessel, and the vessel was forced to turn to the shore in the Khachmaz region of the Caspian Sea.
During the initial interrogation, it was determined that the detained persons were citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Atajani Tahir Khaled, born in 1979, Makhtumi Sadiq Arazgurban, born in 1987, and Gangerme Omid Chalje, born in 1989.
When examining the memory of the “Garmin” GPS device found on the border violators, it was determined that they had traveled 1074 km from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran and entered the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan by passing through the territorial waters of the Republic of Turkmenistan.
As a result of the search measures carried out on the trajectory of the detained “Liner” type floating vehicle and at the scene, a total weight of 509 kg 800 grams of narcotics was detected and seized.
As a result of the continuation of the operational measures, 4 (four) citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan were detained as suspects in a “Niva” vehicle at the scene.
