Illicit drug smugglers via Iran-Azerbaijan and Iran-Azerbaijanâ€“Russia route arrested

Yardimli resident Firudin Aliyev and his son Hamil Aliyev were detained. About 2kg heroin and 9.743kg hashish were confiscated from them. Firudin Aliyev met with Iranian citizen called Mammadali for smuggling illicit drugs from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan and introduced his son to him. According to the agreement Hamil Aliyev was to receive the narcotics smuggled from Iran to Azerbaijan and give it to a man in Baku for $1000. Hamil Aliyev received the drugs from Iranian citizen and gave to his father. Firudin and Hamil Aliyevs were detained by National Security Ministry officers on the way to Baku.
Criminal case has been launched on the fact on article 206.3.2 (smuggling narcotics by an organized group), 234.4.3 (getting, keeping, carrying, sending or selling narcotics by an organized group) of the criminal code.
National Security Ministry officers also detained Jalilabad resident Ilham Bagirov, Ganja residents Ramiz Pashayev and Elmir Aliyev engaged in illicit drug trafficking through Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia route. 9.778kg hashish was confiscated from them. Elmir Aliyev sent $6000 to Ilham Bagirov and ordered 10kg narcotics. Elmir Aliyev also got $13,000 from Ramiz Pashayev and gave to Ilham Bagirov in Imishli region. Aliyev and Pashayev were to meet with Ilham Bagirov and take 10kg drugs. National Security Ministry officers frustrated their plans.
Criminal case has been launched on the fact on article 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 (getting, keeping, carrying, sending or selling narcotics by an organized group) of the criminal code.
