Azerbaijani religious community praying in Khasavyurt mosque: “The incident was committed by wahhabites†- EXCLUSIVE
A.Rahimov said that the incident occurred during the iftar time: “The Azan was sounded at 20:00. After Azan we started performing the Namaz. After finishing the Namaz, we opened the iftar ceremony at 20:20 by local time. This time there were about 70 people in the mosque. Then the mosque’s door was suddenly opened and 2 persons wearing masks entered the mosque. They opened the fire by submachine gun shouting “Allahu Akberâ€. The fact that the door was locked caused some anxiety. Hardly opened the door they escaped. We consider that the incident was committed by wahhabites. Because the “As-salam†newspaper that is close to wahhabites in Makhachkala spread information in its June, July and August issues that Shiah are unfaithful and to kill them is a good deed. The committers have chosen such a time when there were not police employees in the street. The streets were empty due to the inftar time, that’s why they managed easily to escape.
Adil Rahimov declared that there were a lot of Azerbaijanis among the people who came to the mosque: “The people who come to Imam Ali mosque are mostly Azerbaijani Shiah. But there are some local people who also come. There were one-two non-Azerbaijanis during the incident time. They were not wounded during the incidentâ€.
A.Rahimov calls Azerbaijani officials to focus attention on this case: “We ask the states officials to deal very carefully with this issue. Haji Allahshukur Pashzadeh made a call to Dagestani minister on religious affairs and took interest in this issue. It would be better if other ministry’s officials not remain indifferent to this issue. Currently, the investigation is underway, evidences are being taken. Who exactly committed the incident is still unknownâ€.
Note that the terrorist act was committed on August 18, at 20:50 by local time in Imam Ali mosque located in Kasavyurt city of Dagestan Republic, Magidov street, 107. One person was killed and 7 were wounded as a result of the terrorist act. The killed and the wounded are the citizens of Azerbaijan. Jafarov Elmin Elkhan, 17, who was killed as a result of terrorist act, will be sent to Astara region’s Pensar village and will be buried there.
The medical treatment is being rendering to the wounded in Khasavyurt.
