82.9% of 24 263 crimes solved in Azerbaijan last year

Hafiz Heydarov – APA. 82.9% of 24 263 crimes recorded in Azerbaijan were solved in 2011, said Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov in his speech at the board meeting held in the General Prosecutor’s Office. He noted that the number of grave and particularly grave crimes, including deliberate murder and attempt to deliberate murder, deliberate causing of minor serious harm to health, sexual abuse were materially decreased and the crimes such as brigandage and gangster were not recorded in comparison with the previous report period.

246, including 51 grave and particularly grave crimes which were committed in previous years, were cleaned last year. Employees of the General Prosecutor Office’s grave crime investigation department professionally investigated many crimes.

Prosecutor General said that the office’s employees professionally investigated and took the legal measures on facts of murder of resident of Lankaran region Gumbashi village Elshan Huseynov in September 2010, murder of co-founder of “Azer-Ross” MTK A. Piriyev and attempt to deliberate murder of the company’s accountant in July 2011.

The disclosure of murder of Akbarovs couple in Narimanov district, the finding of body of Reyhan Isgandarli, who went missing in Nasimi district, in Khizi region, especially solving other grave crimes and the professional investigation were assessed as a positive case in the investigation.

It was underlined that the criminal cases of Ilyas Vahabov’s murder by unknown persons outside the building in Sumgayit, finding unknown man’s body in Siyazan region, deliberate murders of Azer Mammadov in Shirvan region and employee of the State Register Service Jumshud Khudaverdiyev in Khachmaz region were solved and the professional investigation was conducted on these criminal cases.
