Exhibition on International Day of Commemoration in Memory of Holocaust Victims organized in Baku

Baku - APA. The representation of UN Department of Public Information (UNDPI) and Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan organized the exhibition on International Day of Commemoration in Memory of Holocaust Victims and film show dedicated to this event. UN DPI press service told APA that 16 posters, which won the international poster contest on topic â€œDonâ€™t Forget Holocaustâ€ will be demonstrated in the exhibition. The posters were prepared by the graphic design students from the Czech Republic, France and Israel.

UN DPI Representative in Azerbaijan Envera SelimoviÄ‡ delivered an opening speech. Then Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Michael Lavom Lotem welcomed the guests and spoke about the topic.

Students and director of â€œKhabad Or-Avnerâ€ school opened in Azerbaijan in 2010 were also among the guests. Then the participants of the event viewed the film â€œThe Last Flight of Peter Ginzâ€ dedicated to a Czech Jewish boy murdered at Auschwitz. The event was ended with the discussions on the film.

January 27 is commemorated as the International Day in Memory of Holocaust Victims by the UN resolution adopted in 2005. Auschwitz-Brikenau, a largest Nazi death camp, where millions of people were killed, was liberated 66 years ago on this day.
