Military crimes reduced in Azerbaijan

According to APA, Deputy Prosecutor General, Military Prosecutor, Lieutenant-General Khanlar Veliyev delivered an annual report. He noted that the effectiveness of crime control, strengthening of law and legal rules, work in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms was increased, crimes negatively effecting on the army-building were solved and guilty persons were brought to justice. 99.1 percent of the crimes recorded in the reporting period.

Military Prosecutor said in comparison to 2010, last year the crimes recorded in the Armed Forces and other armed groups considered by the legislation were reduced 6.7%, crimes against the military services - 7.1%, crimes against attachment rules – 11.8%, violation of charter – 4.5%, walkout crimes – 25.9%, violation of rules for handling wepoans – 31.6%, violation of driving and exploitation rules – 23.1%, non-military crimes – 5%, crimes against property – 16.2%, hooliganism – 66.7%, death – 11.3%, bringing to suicide – 76.9%. There were no incidents related to leaving the military unit without permission.

The number of some types of crimes increased last year.
It was underlined that military prosecutor’s offices completed investigation of grave crimes, control was strengthened over the improvement of the quality of the initial investigation, accurate observance of the existing criminal procedure law. 71 wanted persons were found and brought to justice.

Speaking about the tragedies of Khojaly, Garadaghli, Mesheli, Baghanis-Ayrim, terrorism, torture of the captives, other crimes committed by Armenian armed forces, Khanlar Valiyev said investigation was continued regarding that criminal case.
