Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. Sumgayit city court ended the hearing on the case of deputy chairman of Azerbaijan Islamic Party Arif Ganiyev. Lawyer Anar Gasimov told APA that the court passed the judgment. According to the judgment, Arif Ganiyev was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Arif Ganiyev was detained as a result of the operations carried out by Azerbaijan’s National Security Ministry and Prosecutor General’s Office. He was accused of carrying out activity against Azerbaijan, assisting a foreign state and its representatives, committing unrests in the country, violating public safety, instigating people to disobedience.
19g hashish was found on Arif Ganiyev, a Makarov pistol, a charger and 5 cartridges were found in his car.
