Parents killing 5-year-old daughter go on trial

In the court session chaired by Judge Azer Orujov, accused Shahlar Hasanov said he didnâ€™t admit guilt and considered himself as an aggrieved person. He demanded to release him from the pre-trial detention and to send the case to preliminary investigation, but the court rejected his demand. The next court meeting was scheduled to June 6.

Hasanova Sevinj Shahlar, born in 2006, was hospitalized on February 27 with serious injuries in head and died at the hospital. The incident took place in Bulbule village of Surakahani district of Baku.

Police found blood-splashed pillowcase and swab on the girlâ€™s bed.

During the investigation it was identified that Sevinj Hasanovaâ€™s stepmother Rabiyyat Osmanova beat her and later her father Shahlar Hasanov beat hear in head trying to force her not to cry. Next morning the little girl was found in unconsciousness and hospitalized, where she died. Her father Shahlar Hasanov, 33 and stepmother Rabiyyat Osmanova, 35, were arrested as the suspects.

Rabiyyat Osmanova is Russian citizen and she was previously convicted. She and her husband are charged with murder of helpless person.
