Storm hits central, western and southern regions of Azerbaijan

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA. A storm hit the central, western and southern regions of Azerbaijan. The strong south-western wind was replaced by the north-western in the republic, senior hydrologist of the Hydro-meteorological forecast bureau of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Asif Verdiyev told APA. “Stormy wind was observed in Ganja, Shamkir, Naftalan, Lankaran, Astara, Lerik, Central Lowland regions. Today the south-western wind was replaced with north-western in Baku and Absheron peninsula”.

Verdiyev said the strongest wind was observed in Bilajari settlement of Baku. Its speed reached 23-25 m/s and 25-30m/s north-western wind blows in the peninsula now, said the hydrologist.

The ministry official said the north-western wind would be replaced with north-western at night and tomorrow the north wind will bow again. The northern wind will soften tomorrow evening, said Verdiyev.
