Cassation filed against Baku Appeals Court decision on Eynulla Fatullayev
“Azerbaijan’s Supreme Court can consider the journalist’s appeal within a month. Moreover, while considering the case on the judgment of the European Court, Supreme Court confirmed his innocence. We hope that this time the court will pass a decision on his release,†he said.
Rashid Hajili said there is a threat to Fatullayev’s health.
“You know that Eynulla Fatullayev is held in the isolation ward on his own request. But taking into account that it is very difficult to stay in the isolation ward in winter, it will create serious problems for the journalist’s health. We want him to be transferred to a safer facility. We believe that the related bodies will solve this problem,†he said.
The lawyer also commented on media reports about pardoning of Eynulla Fatullayev.
“This is in the competence of the head of state,†he said.
