Opening ceremony of II â€œSpace of Mughamâ€ II International Mugham Festival held in Azerbaijan

APA reports quoting â€œAzerTajâ€ state agency that President of International Festival, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva and vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the event.

President of International Festival, the First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurated the event and said that Baku hosted I International Mugham Festival on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation 2 years ago. At the same time the inauguration of the International Mugham Centre took place: â€œtoday we can surely say that Mugham Centre turned into real mugham house for mugham lovers of the world and very beautiful immortal music â€“ mugham will be sounded here from todayâ€.

Aliyeva underlined the holding of some music festivals during the year by Heyda Aliyev Foundation: â€œThese are the festivals named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Gara Garayev. This is an International Festival held in ancient Gabala city. This is a music festival named after our prominent compatriot Mstislav Rostropovich. Such every event, such every music festival turns into a big holiday. The worldâ€™s famous musicians come to our country. I hope that â€œSpace of Mughamâ€ festival took its decent place in this row and formed its wide auditorium. This yearâ€™s festival also has another feature. This festival is held on the eve of 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence of Azerbaijan. We can gladly note that we observed the very good dynamics in the development and propaganda of mugham. The government developed large-scale projects in our country in the culture sphere. According to the State Program, Azerbaijani theaters, museums, concert halls are being restored, new cultural places, new music schools, mugham and cultural centers are being opened in the regions. Our greatest wealth is our cultural heritage. The protection maintenance and propaganda of this culture is our debt today. I hope that the Festival will be held successfullyâ€.

Then the festival was declared opened.

The event attended by governmental officials, Members of Parliament, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in country, renowned public figures and men of art and culture continued with a large concert.

The guests from the US, Turkey, China, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Jordan, Kuveyt, Morocco and from other countries attended the festivalâ€™s inauguration.
