Ahmad Ahmadzadeh: â€œDam building and dam reinforcement works are carried out in Azerbaijan in order to prevent floods in Kura and Araz riversâ€

To him, at present, along with the Melioration and Water Economy OJSC, appropriate works related to it are carried out by the Ministry of Emergency Situations as well.

â€œLast year, reinforcement works were conducted in the 324 km-dam. Moreover, dams in 40km distance have been reinforced. And reinforcement works will be conducted in 272 km area in the near termâ€, he said.

Ahmadzadeh noted that prognosis connected with floods were normal so far: â€œWater flow is not expected to be as high as it was last year. But I can say that water flow will be high. But I repeat once more that it will not be as high as the last yearâ€™sâ€.

Speaking about the floods in the South territory Ahmadzadeh said that it was connected with precipitations in the region: â€œThere was increase in water level of little rivers in the south territory. But the situation is under controlâ€.
