UNICEF urges parents to educate children

Baku-APA. The United Nations Children’s Fund ( UNICEF) has called on parents to strive to educate their children in order to guarantee a brighter future for them, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

The organization representative in Nigeria Suomi Sakai made the call in Abuja on Saturday at an awareness walk.

Sakai said education is the best legacy any parents could bequeath to their and urged the government to ensure that the standard of education is improved.

"If children are educated and by good teachers, without violence, in a safe environment, with the backing of their community, they will live to make their country great," the UNICEF official said.

"Education is a process that requires a long-term view, stamina and resources to make it a reality," she added.

She announced that Sheraton Hotels, through its guests, has raised more than 21 million U.S. dollars to support UNICEF’s Life Saving Programs for Children throughout the world since 1995.
