Baku – APA. U.S. Mission to Azerbaijan Deputy Chief of Mission Dereck Hogan visited Nakhchivan on September 17-18.
The embassy told APA that Mr. Hogan met with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nakhchivan Administrator Asgar Ismayilov, local Central Election Committee officials, and civil society representatives to learn about Nakhchivan and the pre-election environment in the region and to convey U.S. support for a free and fair electoral process. He also met with Popular Front Party and Musavat Party officials; he requested a meeting with New Azerbaijani Party representatives but they were unable to meet due to scheduling conflicts.
Mr. Hogan also toured Nakhchivan State University with Rector Saleh Maharramov, and spoke with students about exchange programs, English language study, and a range of political issues.
Wrapping up his visit to Nakhchivan, Mr. Hogan visited the Duz Dag Physiotherapy Center, Noah's Tomb, and Momine Khatin's Tomb.
