"We also need peace, security, and stability in the South Caucasus," German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at a press conference with President Ilham Aliyev, APA's correspondent dispatched to Berlin reports.
He noted that it is in the full interest of Germany and the European Union for this geopolitically important region to become stable.
Congratulating President Ilham Aliyev on the initialing of the peace agreement, the Chancellor said: "The agreement has been initialed by Azerbaijan and Armenia. This historic agreement offers a new opportunity to permanently overcome the long-standing conflict."
