At least nine people were killed and three others injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan over the last 24 hours, raising the nationwide monsoon death toll to 47 since June 26, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Monday, Xinhua reports.
The latest fatalities included six in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and three in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, mainly caused by flash floods and house collapses, the NDMA said.
Since the onset of the monsoon, 123 people have also been injured, while 178 houses have been damaged, 179 livestock perished, and about 3.42 kilometers of roads have been affected, according to the authority.
The NDMA urged residents, particularly those living in flood-prone and mountainous areas, to remain vigilant as monsoon rains are expected to continue in the coming days.
