Four people have died in a traffic accident in Azerbaijan's Salyan district, APA reports.
According to the Main Department of the State Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the accident occurred at around 18:00 on July 20 in the village of Shorsulu, when a VAZ car driven by local resident Nazim Gasimov collided with a Toyota driven by Razi Dadashov, a resident of the village of Alchaly, which was traveling in the opposite direction.
Nazim Gasimov and his passengers, Ilkin Gasimov and Elnur Asadov, died at the scene. Another passenger, Vugar Asadov, later succumbed to his injuries in hospital despite doctors' efforts.
Passenger Alifaga Hummatov and Razi Dadashov's minor son were also injured.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
The Main Department of the State Traffic Police said the crash is believed to have been caused by excessive speed and violations of overtaking rules. The department once again urged drivers not to ignore such tragic incidents and to strictly comply with road safety regulations and official recommendations.
