“I have had to say this repeatedly over the past 14 months, unfortunately. Ending this war depends solely on the Russian government and the Russian President. Starting negotiations and, if necessary, peace talks also depends entirely on his will. However, he continues to refuse to do so,” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev, APA's correspondent dispatched to Berlin reports.
Merz said that as long as the Russian President does not change this position, there is no alternative but to continue supporting Ukraine.
“We will do so, and we will coordinate this with our European partners. I would also like to sincerely thank President Aliyev for assessing the nature, causes, course, and possible outcome of this war in the same way that I have expressed here,” Friedrich Merz stressed.
